Experts at Iowa University used the Radio Plasma Wave Science instrument aboard the Cassini space probe to uncover a powerful and constantly changing interaction between Saturn and Enceladus. Their observations showed for the first time that plasma waves waves travel on magnetic field lines connecting the gas giant to its moon, with energy flowing back and forth between the two. They used Cassini to convert the recordings of plasma waves into an audio file that we can hear, revealing a strange 'whooshing' sound, somewhat reminiscent of a jet engine flying close overhead.
