Market day in the town. Women shop at the stall market. They buy food and clothing. City people evacuated to the town. Queues for food due to rationing. Women get letters from servicemen overseas. Guild Hall now a restaurant, a meal for a shilling. Cannery. Women working in the factory canning food. Seeds and other crops. Sacks of seeds. Women load sacks onto a train. City people brought in by Ministry of Agriculture to help bring in the harvest. The Odeon cinema. Pub or inn. Roller skating rink. Bowling club. Home guard. Wartime dancing.
