Health Infrastructure continues to crumble in the worse affected city of MMR KDMC: Promises to add more beds fall flat Only 5% beds added in a private hospital in one week No single bed added in government-run hospitals in one week In the last one week alone, the Kalyan and Dombivali Municipal corporation have reported over 2700 COVID cases including 60 deaths making it the worse affected in the MMR region. This had triggered the corporation to increase the health infrastructure including adding more oxygen and ICU beds. But no beds have been added in the government hospitals. It remains to be the same. In the case of private hospitals, only 5% more beds have been added in the last week. Including private hospitals and COVID care centres, KDMC had assured that 300 ICU beds will be added but only 48 have been added. KDMC had assured 1100 Oxygen beds will be added but only 186 have been added. In its response, KDMC corporation says they say two dedicated COVID health centres are already ready and will be operational within this week. Together, the centres have 300 oxygen and 20 ICU beds.
