A recording originally presented over two sides in the 12-inch 78rpm Decca album of music performed by members of the original “Carousel” New York stage production. This second musical play collaboration of Richard Rodgers & Oscar Hammerstein II (following “Oklahoma!”) was based upon Ferenc Molnar’s 1909 play “Liliom” and ran for 890 performances during its initial Majestic Theatre run on Broadway. The Decca release spent six weeks atop Billboard best-selling album chart during the summer of 1945.
