Ukrainian Soldiers Prepare Near Donbas Region

Video shows soldiers in a Ukrainian army camp in an undisclosed location in the southeastern Donbas region as Russia continues its offensive. MORE: Ukrainian and Russian forces engaged in intense street-to-street fighting in Sievierodonetsk on Monday, with each side controlling about half of the industrial city in eastern Ukraine. Russian forces appeared to have the numerical advantage, but Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Kyiv’s forces had “every chance” to gain control. His assessment came after the Luhansk regional governor, Serhiy Haidai, suggested Ukraine had lost ground. Haidai said, “Our defenders managed to undertake a counterattack for a certain time; they liberated almost half of the city. But now the situation has worsened a little for us again.” Sievierodonetsk is key to Russia’s aim to take over the eastern Donbas region. It is the largest remaining Ukrainian-held city in Luhansk province. City mayor Oleksandr Stryuk said street fighting was raging, but told Ukrainian television, "We have focused enough forces and resources there to beat back attacks on the city."
