In this video we are starting to make and pattern some of the new internal components that make up the boat. We are installing the half round floor stringer timbers that are glued to the bottom of the boat and then glassed over. We are also making a laminated transom bow to replace the rotten mahogany original. This forms the curved support at the bottom of the transom and is made up of 5x 6mm layers of Sapele, laminated with West System epoxy resin. I also show you how I mark out and pattern a typical bevelled wood part, how to mark an offset curve and a centreline on a piece of wood and how I typically bevel a piece of wood on the belt sanding machine. We then begin disassembling the steering and throttle mechanism that sits forward in the boat as this will be the point that we build all of the rest of the structure out from. In the next video we will be continuing to make the new frames, stringers and steering blocks as well as installing all of the new internal structure.
