Silent Hunter 5 How to plot an intercept course very easily

The easiest way to plot an intercept course for a convoy is what this video shows. And the method? Using Distance Speed Time formula. 00:00 Radio report received regarding an enemy convoy. I start by plotting location and course of convoy. Then I also get my sub location from navigator. Just to make sure that all is ok, I check the distance from sub to convoy by drawing a line using ruler. This distance should be close to the range given in the radio report. If there is a big discrepancy, repeat all steps above. 02:27 In my spreadsheet I type in sub speed and convoy speed in km/h. (To convert knots to km/h, multiply by 1.85). I find that at a distance of 83kms for my sub, it will mean 3 hours to reach interception point. On the other hand, at a distance of 45kms the convoy will travel 4 hours. This is ideal as the gap is only one hour which means I get there an hour earlier to plan my strategy! 02:35 I plot the range circle of this distance, followed by my course using the protractor tool and set off to find convoy Disclaimer: It will be nearly impossible to intercept convoy if convoy changes speed and/or direction. The longer the distance to interception, the higher the probability of this happening. Also if convoy heading is close to land and direction of convoy is towards land, convoy might change direction and / or speed.
