This tutorial introduces the moment area method, it's a useful method for solving slope and deflection problems. The moment area method often gets a bad rep, but it's actually quite simple when you learn to set up problems right. In the examples to follow, you'll see that with some careful selection of point A and B, we're just going to be doing a bunch of basic geometry revolving around finding areas and centroid locations of simple shapes like triangles, rectangles, and parabolas.
