Stricter Gun Control Plan Pushes Gun Favorers to Buy Weapons at U.S. Gun Show

U.S. President Barack Obama's plans to implement stricter gun control regulations has pushed gun favorers to purchase weapons and ammunition at a gun show held in Chantilly, Virginia. The U.S. President will meet with Attorney General Loretta Lynch on Monday to discuss options on the issue and is expected to enact the rules unilaterally as the U.S. Congress has so far failed to pass tighter gun control legislation. The President believes that the ease of buying weapons and having more guns in circulation may increase the likelihood of mass shootings. The proposed measures on gun control, while not yet announced, are widely believed to include tighter rules for small gun sellers, more background criminal checks and tighter rules on reporting lost or stolen guns. However, many people rushing to the Nation's Gun Show say gun ownership makes them feel safer. Some exhibitors at the three-day event have also reported their sales have increased, perhaps as a reaction to any forthcoming changes in gun laws. Firearm sellers are unhappy with Obama's proposals and deem the tougher controls to be an infringement upon people's constitutional rights. "Our fear is they are just going to make regulations that make it more and more difficult for people to own a gun and be able to protect themselves which not only hurts us from the business standpoint but is an infringement on our constitutional rights and it's a reduction on people's ability to be able to protect themselves," said Doug Stockman from SSG Tactical, a licensed firearms dealer in Virginia. Annette Elliot, who has run gun shows for decades, also believes the expected new measures will not be effective in restricting criminals' actions but will instead only limit citizens' rights to exercise self-defense. "I mean the criminals are always just going to get the guns. They are not going to go through the steps and they are already breaking all these laws. They are not going to jump through all the hoops, just the law-abiding citizens," said Elliot, the organizer of the Nation's Gun Show. More on: http://newscontent.cctv.com/NewJsp/ne...
