In a last lecture to the HLS Class of 2018, Harvard Law School Professor of Practice Alex Whiting, a former prosecutor at the International Criminal Court in The Hague, delivered a talk on April 4 about unexpected trajectories and how his life intersected with Milan Babić, who served as the first President of the Republic of Serbian Krajina, a self-proclaimed state largely populated by Serbs of Croatia that wished to break away from Croatia during the Croatian War of Independence. Whiting served as a senior trial attorney in the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia from 2002-2007. Sponsored annually by the 3L and LL.M. Class Marshals, the Last Lecture Series is a Harvard Law School tradition where selected faculty members impart insight, advice, and final words of wisdom to the graduating class. This year's speakers are: Jody Freeman; Alex Whiting; Carol Steiker; and Paul Butler.
