Who was Estanislao Zuleta?

HELLO AND WELCOME TO THE CHANNEL OF DILOENTUTOSPC, IN THIS OPPORTUNITY WE WILL REMEMBER WHO WAS ESTANISLAO ZULETA: The name of Estanislao Zuleta still remains in the anonymity in great part of the Colombian town; Barely nine or ten years ago; (2007, 2008), it was almost impossible to find references to his name on the internet. Now, at the beginning of 2017, it becomes easier to refer some works or biographies about his thought and his life; Moreover, when writers such as JORGE VALLEJO MORILLO and his biography entitled "THE REBELLION OF A BURGUES" (Norma, 2006) or ALBERTO VALENCIA GUTIERREZ with his work "ESTANISLAO ZULETA OR THE WILL OF UNDERSTANDING" (Hombre nuevo editores, 2005) marked a Important milestone in his life and work, as well as the comments of the writer William Ospina, friend, and first-hand knowledge of this great thinker. Knowing the thinking of Estanislao Zuleta is to open a range of possibilities of knowledge about Classical authors of universal literature; His sharp and refined reading comprehension led him to lecture on specific authors such as Thomas Mann, Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra, Federico Nietzsche, Leon Tolstoy, Sartre, Greiff, Marx, Sigmund Freud, Kafka, among many others; His thought always seems to start from a strong Freudian influence, which makes the critical analysis of literary works unique and enriching, in addition to psychoanalysis, also had strong bases with the top work of Marx; "The capital"; So that psychoanalysis and Marxism occupied a fundamental part in his life, the latter, worth clarifying, distant from any dogmatic or Leninist conception from which he departed and with which he never agreed, and that in turn , I criticize saying that it was a misinterpretation of this work. Estanislao Zuleta was born in Medellín on February 3, 1935 and died in Cali on February 17, 1990. During his short life and through different universities, including the Universidad del Valle, he succeeded in captivating and provoking a passion for letters, By art, by culture, and in general by education and by a different sense of life; Those who knew him and those who had the privilege of attending his lectures, that his classes, were not dictated in salons, but in auditoriums or paraninfos of the university, by the large number of assistants. One of the most important characteristics of his life is rebellion against educational institutions, and contrary to what one would think, his erudition and culture was due to self-education and lacking degrees and recognitions such as degrees, postgraduate, Specializations and more; To the point that he did not even finish his baccalaureate, and the only title that he achieved in his life, was an honorary doctorate awarded by the Universidad del Valle in 1980 in psychology. Estanislao Zuleta left school at the age of 16, when he was in junior high school, since according to him, this took time to read and study, especially "The Magic Mountain" Thomas Mann, book that marks his life. The hostile environment that produced traditional education based on institutions and the reproduction of data that others had thought and that avoided the anguish of thinking for oneself, were their arguments to distrust of this type of education, and in their replacement, He spent hours in the library, reading topics of interest and studying on his own. As a teacher at Universidad del Valle, some of his students remember that at the beginning of the lecture he told them: "they already have a three to exist, four to attend, and five to insist", so that he would not return to his classes , Had already gained the subject with a three, but in spite of that, his oratory ability and the passionate form of transmitting the knowledge, did that the students did not miss a word of the words pronounced by Zuleta. By making his life a clear and living example of self-directed education, away from institutions and formalisms, he managed to criticize the educational system: He said:  "Education, as it exists today, represses thought, transmits data, knowledge, knowledge and results of processes that others thought, but do not teach or allow thinking. This is because the student acquires a respect for the teacher and education that comes simply from intimidation. "
