Elvis Presley - Band Intros/Blue Suede Shoes - 12 August 1970 DS - Re-edited with Stereo audio

There could not be more of a contrast between two shows that Elvis performed on 12 August 1970 in Las Vegas. The dinner show is very light hearted with Elvis in a very playful mood but not where it detracts from the quality of his performance, something that became an occasional concern in the years to come. The midnight show however, saw Elvis totally focused on the music and although there were the occasional burst of humour it was all the more serious resulting in probably the finest live show of Elvis' career. The good humour and Elvis' mood is epitomised for all to see in the band introductions with Charlie Hodge at the butt of much of his jokes plus some inaudible comments from the audience which seems to bring a smile to Elvis' face. Although the band introductions happened at every show this segment is the only piece filmed by MGM for That's The Way It is and thankfully it is complete. At the conclusion of the introductions it is obvious that Elvis was due to perform You Don't Have To Say You Love Me as the piano can be heard indicating to Elvis the correct key with which to begin the song. Instead however, Elvis gives his first rendition of Blue Suede Shoes from this particular engagement whilst it is a more than decent version it is eclipsed by the wonderful version later in the evening which was included in the original TTWII movie. As with all of these videos, to get the most out of the re-edited audio, I highly recommend you use ear /headphones and turn the volume up as much as you dare!
