According to the White House, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will meet with US President Joe Biden during a visit to Washington on Wednesday and then address Congress. The meeting will also discuss "significant" new aid for Ukraine, according to White House spokeswoman Karine Jean-Pierre. The visit underscores "the United States' unwavering commitment (...) to support Ukraine for as long as necessary," Jean-Pierre added. According to a senior administration official, Biden will announce an aid package worth nearly $2 billion, including a Patriot air defense system. The visit was planned during a phone call between Biden and Zelensky on December 11, followed by an official invitation a week ago and confirmation on Sunday. It will be President Zelensky's first foreign trip since the war began.
