(5 Apr 2014) Afghan voters lined up for blocks at polling stations nationwide on Saturday, defying a threat of violence by the Taliban to cast ballots in what promises to be the nation's first democratic transfer of power. First time voter, 18-year-old Fatima Mortazayee, was one of hundreds of women who cast their votes at a polling station in downtown Kabul. Nearly 200,000 Afghan security forces fanned out on Saturday to protect polling stations and voters.
