Premature babies need various supports when they are in NICU. They may need a skin care, that is just maintaining the temperature to the normal temperature of 36.5 to 37 because they may lose heat in many ways, they may need a feeding support. They may not be able to directly breastfeed if they are younger than 34 weeks. So we may need to supplement them through the tube feeds palada or gavage feeding. So it depends on how premature they are. The support in given in the NICU are temperature control, feeding issues and if they do need antibiotics for infection, they may be given as well. One of the common things is breathing support. Their lung is immature. They may need various forms of support including CPAP, to ventilation to just oxygen. So it depends on what support they need.
