Eiloart, Kerry Palmer, Nick Wenham Profile: Dimension 5 was originally started up in 1989 and released their first single (Utopia) in 1990. They thereafter stayed with D5 records for a while, but fell out due to musical differences; and Kerry and Nick started up their own label (Intastella) to release their music. Dimension 5 described their music as "space techno psychedelic trance" around the time of their debut album (Transdimensional) and cited Hawkwind, Gong, Tim Blake and Tangerine Dream as some of their major influences. The psychedelic rock influences were later toned down and became more of a crossover to what they called "spacey techno". This is evident on their second album (Second Phaze), which has a harder and more tribal feel. They were joined on this release by Norwegian Christer Borge-Lunde (Ra / Electron Wave). Their Transdimensional release is one of the highest rated goa-trance albums ever. The follow up of that masterpiece was this Second Phaze release! More trancy, floating spiralling, but with that unmistakable Dimension 5 sound! Still very psychedelic, funky and with wonderful melodies and harmonies allover! :) Classic Goa Trax (a sublabel of Suntrip Records) works together with Graham Franklin for this release, so the artist gets his part of this amazing music of the past! :) It was originally released on Blue Moon Productions. Made in Thailand with 3D Sound". This album was re-released on Velvet Inc. in 2001 with different artwork, improved sound quality and gaps between the tracks. This first pressing has an error containing 2 seconds of silence at the end of each track, the repress corrected this This album was originally released on Blue Moon Productions. This reissue has been remastered, with a significant improvement in sound quality. On the original release the tracks were mixed, here there are gaps between tracks. Both releases have different artwork. There are several crediting discrepancies between the two versions of 'Second Phaze' - each version has additional credit information that the other does not contain. ___________________ Review by audioman Jan 4, 2013 A unique and excellent trance album. The original, year 2000 Blue Moon Productions release has very good sound quality and mixing of the tracks, both of which are sadly and puzzlingly missing from the remastered, Velvet Inc. re-release which seriously ruined the intended flow of the music with gaps/fade ins/outs and worse sound quality, so be sure to get the original release if you can find it and listen to it the way it was supposed to sound and be listened to. _________________________________________ No Copyright Intended!
