Queen- Live in Tokyo, 3/31/1976

The Night At The Opera Tour is almost done! This is Queen's return visit to the Budokan, the second of three. The quality is a step down from past shows (It was originally a half-semitone show as well) but is still very good, it's also 99% complete (Slight cut at the beginning of "Seven Seas Of Rhye".) This is a great show, with a very enthusiastic crowd (screaming into the 7th octave). Freddie's voice has also fully recovered from earlier shows and is in very good shape. The setlist also has two big surprises! So now time to analyse the songs. The rock section of "Bohemian Rhapsody" sounds great, "Ogre Battle" is very good, with Freddie embellishing on "The soup is COLD ON the table" and singing the rest well, "Sweet Lady" has some rough spots but is pretty good overall, "White Queen" is typically great, "Flick Of The Wrist" sounds good, the verses of "Bohemian Rhapsody" are strong with Freddie hitting the Bb4 on "This time TOmorrow", though he has a crack in the second chorus, "Killer Queen" is great with very playful phrasing, "The March Of The Black Queen" is good, though the second A4 is flat, the reprise of "Bohemian Rhapsody" sounds great, and "Bring Back That Leroy Brown" is pretty good, though Freddie has a rough note. "Brighton Rock" sounds good (and the guitar solo is tops), "Son And Daughter" is good, "The Prophet's Song" is good with a very creative improv section, "Stone Cold Crazy" is lightning fast and sounds great, "Doing All Right" is one of the best ever as Freddie hits all the notes well with no intonation issues, "Lazing On A Sunday Afternoon" has Freddie cluttering the piano intro but sounds good overall, "Keep Yourself Alive" has an awesome intro and is good with Freddie embellishing some of the choruses, "Seven Seas Of Rhye" is a welcome surprise (The last "full" performance of the song), and sounds excellent with Freddie acing the A4s, "Liar" is good, and the musicianship is tops, "In The Lap Of The Gods...Revisited" is conservative but sounds pretty good overall, "Now I'm Here" is very good, though Freddie dodges the second A4, "Big Spender" is great with Freddie hitting the A4 well, "Jailhouse Rock" also sounds great, and the surprise ending of "See What A Fool I've Been" is an excellent end to the show! ENJOY!
