German line hardens after Greeks reject bailout terms

The German government says it sees no basis for new bailout negotiations with Greece. Germany insists it is up to Athens to move swiftly if it wants to preserve its place in the Euro zone. Oxford educated economist Euclid Tsakalotos was today appointed as new Finance Minister following the dramatic resignation of Yanis Varoufakis. Varoufakis announced he was no longer minister as it had become clear some EU officials did not want him part of any further negotiations.
