Game: Final Fantasy II Port: GBA Emulator: VBA 1.8 The final boss of the standard game is Emperor Mateus, except with vicious magical powers and some brutal gimmicks. Many people seem to have a problem with him but I found him to be easy with proper buffing. I didn't even have to use that Blood Sword crap like most players do (I will confess, I never picked it up). PLAN ===== With Level 16 spells that can do some harmful things and a vicious physical that can rob characters of 1000s of HP, Emperor is basically what the bosses of this game should have been like. You will have to augment up your best attackers to put dents in this boss, or you will have to use non-elemental magic past 10 in order to take chunks of HP off him. Use Barrier to block Curse and Blink/Protect to prevent him from stealing HP (I got lucky and didn't get hit by the leech, even though my Evasion is crap vs his Accuracy, that's how effective Blink is). If you have an Ancient Sword on someone, try to Curse him with it. The Rune Axe will always crit this boss. STATS ====== Rank 1 HP: 15000 MP: 540 Attack: 180 Defense: 210 Magic Defense: 16 - 70% Accuracy: 8 - 100% Evasion: 2 - 80% Gil: None Absorbs Everything Drops Nothing. Starfall 10: Heavy non-elemental damage to all allies Curse 16: Attempts to Curse all allies, halving stats. Esuna this asap! Blind 16: Attempts to Blind all allies Dispel 16: Destroys your team's Magic Defense Flare 16: Heavy non-elemental damage to 1 character Slow 16: Slows down 1 character, reducing the amount of attacks they can make Attacks have innate Drain effect, proportional to target's HP. FINAL THOUGHTS =============== I will be straight up. I love the story of this game, but I can't fucking stand the overall difficulty and battle system. I don't think I would play this again, let alone the PSP version (which is the same as GBA but with a spare side quest you can do with each of your characters to make things more easier).
