Aditya Thakare: India's young Glenn McGrath

Aditya Thakare @a.s.t_34_ (born 8 November 1998) is an Indian first-class cricketer who represents Vidarbha.He made his first-class debut for Vidarbha in the 2017-18 Ranji Trophy on 29 December 2017.During the 2018 Under-19 Cricket World Cup he was added to the India's squad as cover for Ishan Porel, who suffered an injury. Thakare is the second Vidarbha player after Faiz Fazal to be named in a junior World Cup squad. Thakare was instrumental in Vidarbha's success in the Central Zone Vinoo Mankad Under-19 One-day tournament. He bagged 11 wickets in five matches at an average of 10.54 and an economy of 3.13, bagging a five-wicket haul. He was selected in the Indian Under-19 squad for the Youth Asia Cup in Malaysia. Thakare also did well in the Challengers Cup. The Akola boy, who played for India Blue, picked up five wickets in four matches at an economy rate of 4.02. Two years ago, in his first year Under-19 year, Thakare made heads turn with outstanding performances in Cooch Behar Trophy. The right-arm pacer took 34 wickets in six matches at an impressive average of 10.64 and economy of 2.28. The six-foot two-inch pacer is rated very highly not only in the Central Zone but also across the country for his accuracy. He was the clearly one of the best performers for Vidarbha in 2015-16 season and finished third in the country’s highest wicket-taker list after the league phase. He was picked for Vidarbha Cricket Association’s Residential Acadmey two years ago and never looked back since then.
