In this video, we will rank and explore John Candy's 10 greatest movies. One of the most legendary figures to come out of the 1980’s North American comedy scene, John Candy will always be associated with those Chicago and New York crowds which dominated movie and television at the time. But in truth, he was actually from north of the border himself as he hailed from Toronto, Canada. Maybe it was this which gave him a slightly different perspective to his peers then, and helped him to stand out amongst them when it came time for the cameras to roll. And boy did he stand out when the cameras started rolling. You only have to look at his work in the likes of Second City TV, Stripes, Brewster’s Millions, Planes, Trains and Automobiles, and Uncle Buck if you want any evidence of that. Hell, even as the nineties came around he was still going strong by adding his unique dose of warmth to films such as Home Alone, Cool Runnings, and his final movie Canadian Bacon. Of course, the only reason this was his final movie was because tragically John Candy would die before his time in 1994 when a heart attack took him from us at just forty three. But even if he did go way too early, at least he was able to leave us with a lot of magic before he left. And the magic found in those roles on both the big screen and the small screen are still being rediscovered by audiences to this day.
