I Got Hacked on Discord: The “Try My Game” Scam (RAT/Trojan) — How It Took Over My Account

⚠️ Scam warning for Discord users: I was tricked by a message that looked like it came from a trusted friend asking me to test a “game” they’d been building. The website looked legitimate, but the download was a Trojan/RAT. Within minutes, the attacker used my session to take over my Discord account, enable 2FA, and attempt to spread the scam further. What you’ll learn in this video: How this “try my game” scam works The red flags I missed Steps you can take right now to protect your Discord (and your friends) What to do immediately if you already clicked/downloaded something Quick safety checklist: Don’t run EXE/installers from Discord DMs (even from friends) Verify “downloads” out-of-band (call/text the friend) Use unique passwords + a password manager Enable 2FA (and consider a hardware security key) If you suspect infection: disconnect, shut down, and change passwords from a clean device If you were affected: Contact Discord Support and report the compromised account. Also notify server admins to remove roles/permissions from the compromised account until it’s recovered. 🙏 Please share this with anyone who uses Discord — this scam spreads by hijacking trust.
