Cedar Shakes Roof Cleaning Long Island, New York 516-782-9040

Hello. Bruce Sullivan here. Talk to you about preserving the extent and the life of that cedar shake roof you have. Behind me, I’m going to put some examples of the results we get using our cleaning process. As a cedar shake shingle homeowner, you may not realize it, but cedar shakes are organic in nature and have to be maintained, unlike other roofing materials. The upside to that is if you do maintain them, they’ll outlast other roofing materials. Also, there’s another benefit to them, and that’s the insulating factor. They hold the ambient air temperature in your home much more consistent than any other roofing material, which means less heating costs and less cooling costs. With the process we use, the cleaning solution we use is non-toxic and non-caustic. What’s that mean? It means it’s not going to harm your home, your landscaping, pets, children or anything else, so there’s not going to be any harm whatsoever coming from the cleaning solution we use. I want to take a little time and show you how this process works. We don’t walk on the roof and we don’t use a pressure washer. One, you don’t want to crack them up walking on them, and, two, pressure will tear them up, so you don’t want to do that. I’m going to put some video up now and it shows a gentleman on the ladder putting up the cleaning solution. What he’s doing now is he’s spraying that solution all over those shakes, every shake, so that he can engulf if, so he can get all the algae, moss, mold, mildew, lichen and fungi out of there. He’s using a 12-ball pump system, and it’s using about 35 psi, just enough to put that solution up there, like I said, so it can engulf all the shingles. What he’s going to do is he’s going to let that solution set up there for a while, so it can get all these infestations out. Now, I’m going to put a clip up of how he rinses the solution off the roof. As you’ll notice in this particular clip, he’s still on the ladder. He’s not walking on the roof, and he doesn’t have a power washer in his hand. He has a garden hose. That’s a garden hose. You can see it coming up the ladder. What he’s doing now is he’s rinsing every shingle up there to get all the algae, moss, mold, mildew, lichen and fungi off that roof.
