No one really talks about the ugly side of contest prep — so I figured I would. This is me unfiltered: just woke up, no food, no water, no pump, no shave. And while prepping for a show can look impressive on the outside, the reality behind the scenes is rough. Low body fat tanks hormones. Sleep gets worse. Energy disappears. Strength drops. Mood swings hit hard. And body dysmorphia creeps in quietly, even when you “look your best.” I’m not sharing this to complain — I chose this path and I’ll finish it. I’m sharing it because fitness shouldn’t be built on lies or glamorized suffering. Contest shape is temporary. Health, balance, and sustainability matter way more long-term.
