Archive: Breast Cancer Screening - The New Guidelines: Can we make sense out of the controversy?

In November 2009 the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force released new guidelines for breast cancer mammography screening. Coupled with intense media attention, these new guidelines spurred a national debate and generated confusion among patients, health care professionals and lawmakers. An interdisciplinary panel of experts from the University of Washington attempts to bring order to the discussion and make sense out of the controversy surrounding the new breast cancer screening guidelines. The event is part of the Institute of Translational Health Sciences Interdisciplinary Grand Rounds series.
