Railway Minister Sadanand Gowda has just about presented Railways Budget 2014. Some clear standouts from the presentation are -- the Rail Min is seeking the Cabinet's nod to allow FDI in the railway sector, train collision avoidance system should be ready in a few months to reduce rail accidents and Gowda has also proposed using PPP & FDI to raise resources. On the lighter side, CCTVs to monitor cleanliness activities to be installed, 4,000 women constables to be recruited to ensure safety of women, mechanized laundry and 5 Jansadharan and 5 Premium AC trains to be introduced.
