Gurman claims in his most recent Power On newsletter that the business has been testing a high-end PC with a chipset that includes a 24-core CPU and 76-core GPU as well as 192GB of memory. He believes that when it comes time to configure the Mac Pro, Apple will eventually give users a choice between two alternative chipsets. Gurman has started referring to those as the "M2 Ultra" and "M2 Extreme" for the time being. According to him, the Mac Pro will have the option of having between 24 and 48 CPU cores, between 76 and 152 GPU cores, and between 256 and 512 GB of RAM. The M2 Max CPU, which Apple has not yet revealed, will be, "at least twice or four times as powerful", as those chips, according to Gurman. The basic M2 has 10 GPU cores and 8 CPU cores, which helps put those core numbers into context. The unannounced M2 Max, however, is anticipated to include 12 CPU cores and 38 GPU cores. Gurman anticipates Apple will introduce upgraded models of the 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pro as well as a new Mac mini before the new Mac Pro is released. He claims that the M2 Pro and M2 Max processors will be featured in Apple's most recent high-end laptops, while the Mac mini will launch with the same M2 silicon as the company's 2022 MacBook Air. Gurman points out that Apple has also tested a Mac mini M2 Pro version internally, though he doesn't say if the firm intends to sell it. Those gadgets ought to show around in the upcoming months.
