After Day 1 of the Chauvin Trial wrapped up at the heavily fortified Hennepin County Government Center, George Floyd's youngest sister, Bridgett Floyd, spoke to the press. Bridgett said today was an emotional roller coaster ride and she read a statement thanking the Floyd family supporters. She also talked about her brother, seeing his killer in the courtroom and about using love over violence. Transcript of what Bridgett said: "Good evening. Good evening. Good evening. I’m Bridgett Floyd, the youngest sister of George Floyd. And it's an honor to see the support and love that is out here today, that has been out here for nine months. But it's not an honor to be standing here to talk about him. Because of a knee on his neck. I normally don't write out my statements. But today has been very, very emotional. I've been on a roller coaster ride, and I just didn't know which way I was going to go. So, to make sure that I let the supporters know, on behalf of my family, how much we deeply, deeply appreciate you guys. I will now speak and let you know how I feel. First, I like to thank all those from around the world who have reached out to me and my family to offer their prayers and support. It means so much to know that George has touched so many lives. I'm here today to represent my brother. You guys call him George but I call him Floyd. I'm here to be his voice today. While I want to limit my comments on the trial itself, I will say that my family and I are glad the wait is finally over in the day is here. We are praying for justice. Our hope is that justice prevails and we can all use this as an opportunity to be better and do better for those around us. I sat in the courtroom today and looked at the officer who took my brother's life. I just really wanted that opportunity opposite to know how much love Floyd had. Not only by me and his family, but you guys too and in the people around the country. We as people need to be more kinder to one another. Violence is not the answer to everything. Sometimes we need to take a step back. Think before we react. And that's me, you, officers. It doesn't matter. That's not the answer. That always needs to be. I miss my brother. I miss my brother. George, as you guys called him, would give the shirt off his back to a stranger. That's how we roll. That was him. He didn't have to know you to love on you, to give you advice, to be a shoulder to lean on. He had his own troubles but he also made sure that no one seen the trouble he was going through. You could never ever know what he was going through because he didn't let you see that. Sorry. The officer took a great man. A great father. A great brother, a great uncle. And a great father. He really took a great father. He was so family oriented. He loved his family. He loved his daughter. Gianna meant the world to him. We would never get that back. I want you guys to continue to pray for our family because we need it, we need it. God bless you guys." See our Derek Chauvin Trial coverage: https://unicornriot.ninja/derek-chauv...
