SC Seeks Fair Probe Into Jantar Mantar Violence | Police & Protesters Face Scrutiny| Plain Speak

The Supreme Court has called for an independent and impartial inquiry into the violence during the CJP-led student protests at Delhi's Jantar Mantar, stressing that accountability must extend to both police personnel and protesters. The bench observed that any investigation would be incomplete without fixing responsibility wherever violence occurred. The Court also directed authorities to preserve CCTV, drone, body-camera and communication records, ordered that no coercive action be taken against detained protesters without criminal antecedents, and emphasized that allegations of police excesses as well as attacks on police officers must both be investigated fairly.
