From January 1, 1998 until January of 2023 I was working for various organizations involved in the teaching of the Transcendental Meditation technique. But even before I began my career in various TM related organizations, I was immersed in the TM community because my parents were teachers and I grew up meditating on and off since I was 4 years old. In this video I share some of the reasons I decided to step away from teaching and focus on other areas of my life. I absolutely love all of the programs that Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, the founder of the TM program, introduced to the west. He created a very full, rich, and holistic system of knowledge, modalities, and techniques to enhance the wellbeing of every person who utilizes them. He also inspired a lot of scientific research on the benefits of meditation and technologies of consciousness for both the individual and society as a whole which have proven that there are far reaching benefits in society when enough people are meditating. From the early days of his teaching, until the very end, he was wholly focused on improving the quality of life for all of humankind. I am forever grateful to him for this vision and how deeply it has inspired me and given me hope and motivation to do all that I can to contribute to the much needed growth of consciousness on this planet. I never thought I would want to stop teaching TM, because I absolutely loved doing that as a career. However over the past few years, I became more clear about what I wanted to do with the remainder of my life and it also became more clear that I would have to step away from teaching TM to really truly do the things I was wanting to. During intense periods of grief and trauma recovery, I discovered that I not only enjoy other forms of meditation and meditation like tools, but that I sometimes need them to address specific responses that I have from early childhood trauma that still affect me. And I utilize various modalities for health and wellness that I wanted to further explore and to talk and share about them freely. TM is still my daily practice though. It is a great technique that is simple, effective, and practical because you can do it anywhere, anytime, and anyone can do it.
