07/27/58 Wreckage of flaming truck crash near South Boston, Va.

2411 Virginias highway death toll stands at-----(start film)-442 today, 42 less than the total reported a year ago. (show film) In weekend fatal accidents, a 33-year old Bland County man----Jack D. Scott-----died yesterday in the flaming wreckage of his truck, two miles north of South Boston on route 204. The driver of the other truck, William Oliver of Lexington, North Carolina, is in satisfactory condition at South Boston General Hospital. The accident occurred on a straight stretch of road according to investigating police. Scotts truck was owned by Interstate Motor Lines of High Point, N.C. Olivers vehicles was owned by McLean Trucking Company of Winston Salem. Both rigs burned after the mishap. Scotts body could not be recovered for nearly two hours after the accident occurred. The highway was blocked for nearly four hours. In another accident, 22-year old Fred L. Cummings of Pulaski, died in a single car crash just north of the Lynchburg City Limits.
