Please only watch if you are comfortable seeing real life behavior ** ° We recommend you navigate our clips from the playlists, which are divided by day, to make your viewing experience better ° _________ LATEST HIGHLIGHTS: _________ Playlist For 12/28/23 Can Be Found At - • 12/28/23 - Owl Box 12/28/23 (pm hours) : 5:14 pm - Ava brands the tray out of the pantry (pantry is the corner area Ava has designated for food storage) 5:11 pm - Ava checking out the pantry. The Rat is laid up against the corner with the tail stretched out toward the center. 1:23 pm - Ava Still in her resting corner 12/28/23 (am hours) : 11:58 am - Ava in her resting corner, doing some small stretches 10:30 am - Ava now standing, Preening. 9:27 am - Ava is in her resting position. Interestingly, she is facing the wall, which she doesn't normally do when Reclining. 8:53 am - Ava Spending the Day in the House Again 5:24 am - Later they spend time together on the Perch 5:19 am - Ava Flies into the House, Beau Follows and they mate. 5:15 am - Beau is back in the perch 3:28 am - Ava Rests after a busy night. 3:04 am - Beau had spent Most of the last few hours on the perch guarding the House. He joins Ava, They Mate, Then he heads out. 2:53 - 12:36 am - Ava is making another attempt at eating the Rat. I don't think I've seen such a long tail before. After looking it up, I believe this is a Black/Roof Rat. Eventually she puts it back in the pantry for later. Playlist For 12/27/23 Can Be Found At - • 12/27/23 - Owl Box 12/27/23 (pm hours) : 11:56 pm - Ava Preening, the prey is back in the pantry. You can see the tail across the floor. 11:51 - 11:38 pm - Ava is having another go at the large Rodent. Eventually putting it back in the pantry (a space the Owl designates as preferred storage for prey she will get to later). 11:34 pm - Ava drags the Rodent back out and starts eating again. 11:06 pm - Ava is expecting Beau, but he doesn't join her. 8:43 pm - Ava stores the Rodent For Later 8:25 - 8:23 pm - Ava starts eating the Rodent Beau just brought to her. It has a very long tail. 8:21 pm - Beau Arrives with a large Rodent south a long black tail. This is the second time in two nights we have seen this long tail. Ava takes the Rodent, they then Mate. 8:19 pm - Ava calls to Beau and gets into mating position 5:19 pm - As he is wont to do, Beau Arrives at Dusk. He and Ava mate. No Food is delivered this time. We have also had a few visits from screech Owls. Currently the box is primarily occupied by barn Owls Ava and Beau. The other barn Owls Vying For the House may be Lucy and Sid, the prior occupants. ___________ Winter is a time of courtship for the owls. ° Our Owl boxes were designed, built and installed by Neil at #ARKowlboxes ° FINE PRINT ** I am not an orinthologist, rather a nature lover who enjoys watching the owls who visit our boxes.
