Bitcoin Berlín cofounder Gerardo Linares: opening remarks

Berlín, El Salvador is home to one of the world leading Bitcoin Circular Economies. Started in 2023 by two Salvadorans, Gerardo Linares and Evelyn Lemus, the project quickly attracted Bitcoiners from around the world to help grow local adoption of this monetary innovation. Two years later, Berlín has over 170 merchants who accept Bitcoin payments, as well as a Bitcoin community center with educational initiatives. It's been called "the most circular of circular Bitcoin economies" because so many merchants in Berlín even spend Bitcoin with each other. Gerardo tells the story here.
