David Sanderson is flux's Creative Director. David graduated with a first class degree from North Staffordshire Polytechnic in 1979. After six years in design practice he returned to education as a lecturer. In 1987 he became a full time lecturer at Staffordshire Polytechnic. Since 1990 his primary role has been as Course Leader for the MA Ceramic Design course. David became a Principal Lecturer in 1994 and was awarded the title of Professor of Ceramic Design in 2008 for his extensive work with the ceramics industry both globally and in the UK. He was highly commended for the Prince Philip Designer of the Year award in 1992 -- and continuing with the royalty theme he was commissioned by the British Ceramic Confederation to design the Queen's gift to commemorate her Golden Jubilee in 2002 on behalf of the British ceramic industry. The MA programme now enjoys an international reputation for the work and achievements of its students. David is the brainchild behind the flux project and in 2012 he was awarded the prestigious Homes and Gardens Designer of the Year Award.
