I decided to give another whirl as Kitana versus the Very Hard AI, and random select gave me Unbreakable Sub-Zero. After playing a bit and simply getting nothing going at all, I decided to do two comparison sets. The first set, with Mournful/Assassin Kitana vs Unbreakable Sub-Zero, is against the Very Hard AI. It shows quite nicely how the Very Hard AI plays, and takes strong advantage of input reading. It is not unbeatable, but it is extremely hard (for me). Very Hard reacts to your inputs a significant amount of the time, allowing it to counter you very, very well. It blocks lows and highs extremely well, techs most of your Throws, and performs exceptionally well at the wake up game. The next set, using the same characters and Variations (put different skins and stage) is set against the Hard AI, and here you can see that while it input reads, it doesn't do so anywhere near the extent of Very Hard. In fact it lets you get away with enough stuff that by now, I can actually toy with the Hard AI, and I don't find it too much of a challenge. It honestly feels more like a human opponent, as you can bait it a bit, there's more variety on Wake Up, Throwing is a viable option, and you can get away with some YOLO moves. Watch both sets, and see how vastly different the AI plays.
