Opening to The Wizard of OZ 1996 Screener VHS

Back in the day of VHS Rentals, the movie studios would send out these to individual owners of these rental stores trying to convince them to stock their movie on their store sleeves, they would pitch to them that "so-so" was the highest grossest movie of all time and that by stocking the store shelves would guaranteed them revenue and so on. These weren't just reserve to special releases, but rather routine as evident here with The Wizard of OZ, which was already released on video prior to this, including a 50th anniversary edition in 1989. This release was part of MGM/UA 's Family Entertainment label and was towed as the last release of the century, however the rights of OZ on home media was transferred to Warner Home Video in 1999, who release a remastered edition of the movie on VHS & DVD, so this release was actually the second-to-last for MGM/UA who also issued OZ on DVD in 1997. 1. MGM/UA Home Video Notice (am surprised not every studio thought of padding out their black screens with their logos and copyright notices) 2. Warning Screen 3. The Wizard of Oz Rental Presentation 4. 1993 MGM/UA Home Video short version 5. THX logo 6. Opening Titles 7. First few moments of the movie, please note the "Property of MGM/UA" notice at the bottom Here's another example of a Rental's Pitch this time for T2, with Robert Patrick as the T-1000 pitching to the rental managers and owners to stock their inventory, like nobody would turn an opportunity to sell T2 at their stores lol, still a rare find to see one of it's stars participate in hyping anticipation for a movie's release, video or otherwise, especially one in character.    • promo TERMINATOR 2 on VHS
