Welcome to Figs & Teale, a channel dedicated to helping couples build deeper connection, better communication, and more emotionally safe relationships. I’m Figs, a couples counselor and the creator of Empathy Calm, where we support couples through counseling, coaching, and practical online tools designed for real life. In this video, Stop Saying I’m Sorry – Do This Instead to Heal Your Relationship, I talk about a pattern I see all the time in my work with couples: getting stuck on the need for an apology. While “I’m sorry” can sound important, on its own it doesn’t actually repair much. Apologies are like the cherry on top of a cake and without the cake, the cherry doesn’t mean very much. What truly heals relationships is the cake itself: a vulnerable, empathic experience where both partners feel seen, felt, and understood. When empathy is shared in the body, not just the words, connection naturally returns. If an apology comes after that, great but the real work has already been done. Less “sorry,” more empathy. #RelationshipAdvice #CouplesCounseling #HealthyRelationships #CommunicationSkills #EmpathyInRelationships #CouplesTherapy #EmotionalConnection #RelationshipHealing #ConflictResolution #MarriageAdvice #LoveAndConnection #EmotionalSafety #RelationshipGrowth #TherapyTalk #EmpathyOverApologies #AttachmentHealing #RelationshipTips #FigsAndTeale #EmpathyCalm #ModernRelationships
