A deal between the leaders of the United States, the United Kingdom, and Australia was announced during their meeting on Monday. Australia would acquire nuclear-powered, conventionally armed submarines as part of the deal. The agreement was reached at the North Island Naval Air Station in San Diego, California, by Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, and US President Joe Biden. The submarines will have modern U.S. technology and be based on the next-generation nuclear submarine design from the United Kingdom.
