Surah Al Ahzab (The Confederates) is the 33rd chapter of the Qur'an. It has 73 verses and was revealed in Medina. It is a Makkan surah and is named after the confederates mentioned in verse 9. The main theme of this surah is to warn the believers against disunity and to strengthen their faith in the unity of Allah. It also deals with the believers’ responsibilities towards their families, spouses and the community. The surah also discusses the status of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, his wives and his companions as well as the hypocrites who opposed him. It ends with a warning about the Day of Judgment and a reminder of Allah’s mercy and power.
