The talented youtuber Ruud Mixer extended one of my favourite Marcia Hines tracks and I decided to challenge myself to create an extended video clip for the great edit Ruud posted. 'Your Love Still Brings Me To My Knees' was the last Top 10 hit for the American born and Australian legend Marcia Hines. It came after a dazzling run of hit singles, albums, gold and platinum records, female vocalist of the year prizes, her own TV show and a decade in the local industry. Beginning on the Top 40 charts with 'Fire and Rain', Marcia was a regular visitor on our charts but that glorious run ended with this wonderful track. Also recorded by Leo Sayer and Dusty Springfield, Marcia's version of 'Your love still brings me to my knees' is for me the best by a long shot. Marcia has simply one the best voices in the business and after 5 decades; it is still going strong with a recent successful national tour of the musical 'Velvet'. There is no denying the place that Marcia Hines occupies in the Australian entertainment landscape - an inductee into the ARIA Hall of Fame, a reinvention in the 00's as a beloved judge on Australian Idol for 7 seasons, continuing new albums since the late 90's and tours, Marcia is unstoppable. Still absolutely gorgeous (maybe more so) 42 years after her debut on national television with her appearances on Countdown, Marcia Hines is a one of a kind. Her music has been with me since my discovery of pop music, and my respect for her as a singer and as a human being has only grown exponentially since then. To achieve this post, I used bits of two clips of the song: one a concept video; the other a performance one - I hope I have done the handsome Ruud proud with the edit of his extended clip, and honoured the sublime Marcia Hines with this tribute. Marcia Shines. Always :)
