Front and Rear Sonar System (if so equipped) The front and rear sonar system helps detect obstacles both in front of and behind the vehicle. The system is activated when the ignition is in the ON position and the shift lever is moved to either the REVERSE or DRIVE position. When moving forward, the front sonar system will beep to alert you to obstacles within 3 feet of the front bumper. When backing up, the rear sonar system will beep to alert you to obstacles within 5.9 feet of the rear bumper. There may be instances when you want to turn the front and rear sonar system off. To turn the system off, the ignition must be ON and the shift lever must be in the REVERSE or DRIVE position. Now, push the Front and Rear Sonar System OFF switch and the OFF indicator will illuminate. Push again to reactivate the system. The system will automatically reactivate the next time the ignition switch is placed in the ON position. To assure maximum accuracy of the system, please keep the sonar sensors located on the front and rear bumpers free from snow, ice and dirt.
