France Riots | Chaos continues in France during the election season as rioting erupted in Paris after Marine Le Pen's far-right National Rally won the first round with 33% of the votes, defeating Emmanuel Macron's left-wing New Popular Front alliance, which secured 28%. Thousands of left-wing activists, joined by communists and Islamist groups, protested, leading to smashed shop windows and fireworks. Over 100 rioters were detained. Macron's party accused the National Rally of seeking votes based on religious and ethnic identity and warned of potential civil strife.
