Who Killed Goliath? David or Elhanan?

Understanding the textual difficulty of 2 Samuel 21:19 and explaining the corruption (and hence contradiction) in the Masoretic Text, which the NASB and ESV simply translate literally, in light of the parallel account in 1 Chronicles 20:5. That is, why does KJV correctly insert ‘the brother of’ in italics, correcting the Masoretic Text in this place with an emendation? Refutation of misunderstanding of the purpose of italicized words in the KJV on the part of Ruckmanite King James only advocates, whose explanation of this problem simply is not adequate, especially if based on the alleged re-inspiration of the Bible in the King James Version thereof, which leaves the people who follow such teachings misled and with false sense of assurance in preservation of God’s word. Yes, problems like this are difficult, and we need to be aware of them and know how to provide answers to the skeptical and unbelieving world, whom we hope to reach with the Gospel, but there are far more reasonable explanation than “the King James says it, and that settles it”. Interestingly, the Septuagint has the same rendering as the Masoretic Text in 2 Samuel (2 Kindoms in LXX) 2:19.
