Shepard heads home to put an end to the Reaper war. I don’t actually mind the ending, even if the kid stuff is a bit dumb and on the nose. The Extended Cut fixes most of the problems the original ending had and is now the official canon as of the Legendary Edition. And damn, that ending music always has me sobbing. Trivia: If you saved Morinth in ME2, the banshee you fight after destroying the Hades cannon will have her name on its healthbar. If you have low EMS, your squadmates will be vaporized by Harbinger instead of being evacuated, and the Destroy ending will be much bleaker. If you pick either of the other endings or have low EMS in the Destroy ending, your LI will place Shepard’s plaque on the wall instead of looking up and smiling. If you didn’t romance anyone or your LI died in the final mission, Samantha Traynor will put up Shepard’s plaque. In the Synthesis ending, EDI gives the final speech, and Shepard gives it for Control ending. The stargazer is voiced by Buzz Aldrin.
