When I first read the New York Times' ranking of the 16 best bagels in New York City, I was shocked. My favorite bagel shop was not there. So I spent the past year trying to determine if all 16 bagel shops on the NYT list were better than my favorite bagel in New York -- Ess-A-Bagel. Bagel shops are some of the best places to eat in NYC. They're relatively cheap and convenient, and they're filled with rich history. The bagel is one of the most iconic NYC foods. It's also one of my son's favorite foods. So I was determined to get to the bottom of this list. Watch to the end to find out what bagel we ranked number 1 (and why!), in addition to where we would rank Ess-A-Bagel. 0:00 – Intro 1:43 – Bake Shop (#16) 2:21 – Popup Bagels (#15) 3:00 – Utopia Bagels (#14) 3:39 – Bo’s Bagels (#13) 4:03 – Liberty Bagels (#12) 4:41 – Bergen Bagels (#11) 5:10 – Bagel Oasis (#10) 5:59 – Russ & Daughters (#9) 6:39 – Tal Bagels (#8) 7:26 – Tompkins Square Bagels (#7) 7:55 – Apollo Bagels (#6) 8:41 – Baz Bagels (#5) 9:25 – Terrace Bagels (#4) 10:00 – Shelsky’s (#3) 11:02 – Knickerbocker Bagel (#2) 11:34 – Best Bagel (#1) 13:14 – Ess-A-Bagel (Bonus Review + Final Verdict) If you enjoyed this, check out the related podcast where I dive into more of the New York bagel history, in addition to discussing debates like Montreal vs New York bagels: https://open.spotify.com/episode/4wh8...
