Mario Kart 8 ---------------------- The premise of Super Mario 64 was to jump into portals in the guise of portraits. Within each portrait was a unique world with their own set of power stars and challenges required to complete to reach Bowser, beat him up, and rescue Princess Peach and her subjects from their fate within the castle walls. Up on the fourth floor of Princess Peach's Castle was a portrait disguised as a grandfather clock, and within that portrait lay Tick Tock Clock, a world filled with gears, pendulums, cages, pistons, and a pair of clock hands. Mario Kart DS brought back Tick Tock Clock and gave it a Mario Kart makeover. The whole area has become more linear and flat in comparison to the one from Super Mario 64, which was tall and narrow in comparison to earlier worlds, as if Mario were climbing the inside of the grandfather clock. There are two clock faces each with their own set of clock hands that can be driven across as a risky yet well worth shortcut. There are also two sets of pendulums that will block items thrown at it as well as racers. There are six gears that can be driven on. Four of them come after the pendulums and before the second clock face. They alternate in rotation between clockwise and counterclockwise, and drivers going in the direction of rotation get a small speed boost while drivers going against the direction of rotation are slowed down a bit. The other two gears are at the end of the course before the finish line and function in the same way, only the boost/hindrance in speed are increased due to rotating perpendicular to the horizontal surface of the course. After a certain amount of time passes, everything will begin to rotate in the opposite direction before it begins to rotate back as it did before. In Mario Kart 8, the entirety of Tick Tock Clock got updated in terms of looks. Several designs of the clock can be seen littered throughout the course, especially after the pendulums. There is an alarm at the top of the Mario Kart sign at the finish line. Toads have also come by to spectate and cheer on racers. Aside from visual changes are the two alternating glider panels as well as trick ramps before the first clock face and each of the pendulums as well as on each clock hand and off the edge of each gear, including the two at the end. ---------------------- -Don't get used to this sight in 150cc Online mode. Rarely does a race go without incident in first place (and yet it did in my next video, which was my last race of the day. Go figure). -Here, I'm joined by fellow racer Culex77. I hope to be able to feature him and his side of things at some point, but until then, I'm the star of the show.
