Sun and Moon is basically the point where Nintendo decided to totally embrace making Pokemon as horrifying and unnerving as possible. A group of Pokemon that are essentially elder gods? Even more cursed spirits from beyond? Numerous references to death, both for humans and Pokemon? Mega Evolution confirmed to actually hurt Pokemon? Parental abuse? They went all out! Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon takes things up to eleven with now being able to travel through Ultra Space. This song doesn't just leave Lavender Town in the dust, it goes back to run over it repeatedly until it's buried in dust. You've come a long way Pokemon, from a happy-go-lucky RPG to a happy-go-lucky RPG with big splashes of cosmic horror and dystopian madness. I'm... so sniff proud...
