Fire destroys senior home in Rockland County, displacing dozens of residents

Dozens of firefighters from across the tri-state region helped evacuate residents and battle a large blaze at the Evergreen Court Home for Adults, a senior living facility in Spring Valley area of Rockland County early Tuesday, March 23, 2021. Flames broke out just after 1 a.m. and firefighters said they helped rescue a number of residents and bring them to safety. It was not immediately clear if there were any serious injuries. A portion of the structure could be seen collapsing amid the inferno, which was still not under control as of 6:30 a.m. One firefighter was being treated for injuries after becoming temporarily trapped inside the burning facility.
