Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze (Wii U) - 2-2 Mountain Mania: 1:29.76 IL Run (Shiny Gold)

Mountain Mania is a rare Rambi level! And boy, does he go hard with Cranky's pogo! Rambi's big downside is he takes signficantly longer to re-roll when you hit the ground again. Cranky's pogo completely eliminates this downside, with the disadvantage that your movement has to be significantly more controlled. And as it happens that's extremely difficult in this level because there's a ton of moving platforms we can store GIGANTIC speed off of so long as we pogo right. Oh, to start things out there's a relatively small one at 29s IGT, and a Rambi ditch ( :( ), which is actually surprisingly inconsistent to do damageless because the rabbit on the platform above, off-screen, hits you a lot of the time. Managing our pogos just right from there, we land on the next Rambi crate and that's when it really starts getting difficult. Not only do you have to memorize this entire section and control your pogo height each bounce, you also have to adjust to how much speed you gain off the final big launch. The hardest part is taking it through the tiny cave at 1:04 IGT. You have to come in really low. We then do a full pogo to bonk on the ceiling and regain some control, then going into the hardest part of the entire thing: Pogoing off the next Rambi crate to launch across the entire next section. I cannot possibly overstate how impossible it is to do the pogos leading up to the crate bounce and then do it and get up the cliff. I think I did it like, once or twice. That's as far as you can reasonably take this speed, I think. WR probably does a little more yet, but I was frustrated enough as is. Anyway, there's a final little section where we want to minimize re-rolling as much as possible by using pogos, but you can only do so much since you need to be dashing to get through the big blocks. Really happy was able to pull off a Sub 1:30 on this one. Never again.
