“Comfortably Numb” by Pink Floyd is one of the band’s most iconic songs, featured on their 1979 masterpiece The Wall. Known for its haunting lyrics and soaring guitar solos by David Gilmour, it has become a timeless highlight in rock history. The two guitar solos can be regarded as the greatest ever recorded, blending emotion, phrasing, and tone in a way that continues to inspire musicians around the world. Almost exactly one year ago, I visited Rome at the Circo Massimo to see David Gilmour perform songs from his new album Luck and Strange. As with every Gilmour concert, the show closed with Comfortably Numb. His live guitar sound unleashed countless emotions within me, and ever since that night I’ve wanted to learn and play this solo.
